Lingering Workplace Trauma?

How workplace crises are handled can have long-lasting impact - for better or worse - on an organization’s development, productivity, and overall functioning. A common question I’m asked by organizational leaders is whether an organization can experience trauma months or even years after a crisis occurs. My answer is: Absolutely. Similar to individuals or families, organizations can struggle or stagnate for many years after a traumatic event or situation. In the workplace, unresolved trauma can negatively impact:

  • Morale

  • Civility

  • Employee retention

  • Concentration and productivity

  • Creativity

  • The ability to find effective solutions to complex problems

  • Numerous other facets of employee performance and behavior

  • Organizational profitability

If you know or just suspect your organization is suffering from lingering trauma, I’m here to help. I can help you assess the lasting impact of past crises and recommend specific strategies or interventions to help your organization get unstuck and find a more productive path forward.
